Sports Facilities Companies to Operate Destination KP on Long Island
Tim O’Connell has been appointed general manager of youth sports facility
Posted On: February 14, 2025 By :The Sports Facilities Companies has been selected to operate Destination KP, a new youth sports venue located on Long Island, New York, withTim O’Connell appointed as general manager.
O’Connell has more than 25 years of experience in sports and recreation management, including his tenure as a deputy commissioner of parks and recreation in Nassau County. At Destination KP he will oversee operations, revenue growth and building a customer base for the sports destination.
“Residents who’ve had to travel out of state for tournaments will now be able to stay and play at home,” said O’Connell. “Leading the team at Destination KP is a chance to take my lifelong passion for youth sports and use it to serve our community. I share SFC’s vision to create a place that not only cultivates athletic talent but also acts as a cornerstone for local economic growth.”
Destination KP is planned as a 44-acre facility to include six full-size turf fields and one practice field plus a 65,000 square foot indoor sports and recreation center that has the flexibility for numerous regulation-size basketball courts or multipurpose box fields. It will include a two-story concession building with a commercial kitchen for food service and event catering, as well as sports medicine and office facilities offering medical services including sports medicine and physical therapy.
