Spokane Sports Launches Spokane Champions Women in Sports Campaign
Destination will host several large women's sports events this spring
Posted On: March 5, 2025 By :Spokane Sports has launched the Spokane Champions Women in Sports campaign as the destination builds momentum toward several months filled with women’s sporting events including the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Spokane Sports has released a free community toolkit, giving businesses and residents access to downloadable resources such as social graphics, posters, table tents, coasters and more. The initiative encourages Spokane residents to rally behind women in sports as the city prepares to host several events.
“With Spokane hosting five major women’s sports events in just over a month, this is our moment to champion the impact of female athletes and leaders in sports,” said Keytra Lewis, director of marketing and communications at Spokane Sports. “From youth clinics to national championships, the Spokane Champions campaign is about celebrating these moments and ensuring our community is part of the movement.
As part of the Spokane Champions campaign, Spokane Sports will host the NCAA Beyond the Baseline Women’s Panel, bringing together influential leaders in sports to share their experiences, challenges and impact.
The panel will take place March 25 at Montvale Events Center. Panelists include Cierra Burdick, professional basketball player and USA Basketball member; Stephanie Curran, chief executive officer of Spokane Public Facilities District; Jennifer Dill, vice president of brand strategy and partnerships, TNT Sports; Terry Gawlik, University of Idaho athletic director; and Renee Washington, chief operating officer of USA Track & Field.
Spokane kicks off the busy spring season by hosting high school and middle school basketball championships the first week of March. It will also have a youth basketball clinic on March 27 at The Warehouse where youth athletes can train with 3XBA pros, including Burdick.
The Pacific Northwest Qualifiers Volleyball Tournament will take place March 22–24 and March 28–30. The NCAA Women’s Sweet 16 and Elite 8 will come to Spokane Arena from March 29 through April 1, which is kicked off by a Fan Fest Block Party on March 29, including food and entertainment.
The USA Women’s Wrestling National Championships and World Team Trials will be April 4–6, featuring the country’s top wrestlers battling for a national title and a shot at the world stage.
