The Federation of Gay Games has selected Paris, France, to host the 2018 Gay Games, which will be the 10th edition of the event. The decision was made in Cleveland, which will host the 2014 Gay Games with Akron, Ohio.
Paris beat out bids from London, England, and Limerick, Ireland, for the rights to host the event. In 2018, more than 15,000 participants are expected to compete and participate in 36 sports.
“We will also strive to make the Gay Games in Paris the catalyst for a more inclusive and generous society in France,” said Valérie Fourneyron, France’s minister for sports, youth, public education and associative life.
