The previous edition of the World Skate Games was held in Rome in 2024, featuring more than 10,000 athletes from 90 countries and 12 skating disciplines. The event generated an economic impact of $476 million and attracted 40,000 tourists.

The announcement came at an event attended by Paraguay President Santiago Peña and World Skate President Sabatino Aracu. The event also included Camilo Pérez López Moreira, president of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee; César Ramírez, Paraguay minister of sports; and Víctor Pecci, general director of the Paraguayan Committee for the Organization of Mega Sporting Events.

“With the strong support of President Peña, we are delighted that Paraguay will be hosting another major sporting event in the 2026 World Skate Games,” said Pérez López Moreira. “This event will have a hugely positive economic impact for Paraguay, and we are confident athletes from around the world will enjoy an unforgettable experience at the World Skate Games.”

Paraguay is making a push to host more major events, as the country was the site for the 2022 South American Games and will host both the Junior Pan American Games and a round of the FIA World Rally Championship later this year.
