New Partnership to Bring Ryder Cup and PGA Championships to Congressional Country Club

The PGA of America has announced a new partnership with Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, that will bring eight of its championships and events to the course from 2022 to 2036. Congressional’s Blue Course will host the Ryder Cup in 2036, the PGA Championship in 2031, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2022 and 2027, the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in 2025 and 2033, the PGA Professional Championship in 2029 and the Junior PGA Championship (girls and boys) in 2024. Congressional will also host an annual PGA HOPE national event for the duration of the contract.
“This partnership with Congressional Country Club and its membership is monumental in scope and stature, and we are excited to showcase the range of championships and events that the PGA of America has to offer,” said PGA of America Interim CEO John Easterbrook. “We’re also looking forward to building a lasting relationship with the legions of knowledgeable golf fans from Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia and believe they will enjoy their time with us and marvel at the talents we will bring to Congressional in the coming years.”
Designed in 1924 by Devereux Emmet, Congressional’s Blue Course has undergone several renovations over the years. The course will undergo a full restoration in 2019.

Started in 1927, the Ryder Cup features 12-member teams from the United States and Europe competing in five match-play sessions over three days. Europe will host the United States at the 2018 Ryder Cup, which will be contested at Le Golf National in Paris, September 25–30. Future Ryder Cup sites include Whistling Straits Golf Course in Kohler, Wisconsin (2020); Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome (2022); Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York (2024); Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota (2028); and the Olympic Club in San Francisco (2032).
The PGA Championship is one of four major championships in men’s golf. When the 2019 event comes to Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, it will mark the first time the tournament has been played in May. Futures sites of the PGA Championship include
TPC Harding Park in San Francisco (2020); Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina (2021); Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey (2022); Oak Hill Country Club’s East Course in Pittsford, New York (2023); Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky (2024); Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania (2027); the Olympic Club’s Lake Course in San Francisco (2028); and Baltusrol Golf Club’s Lower Course in Springfield, New Jersey (2029). Southern Hills Country Club’s Lower Course in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will host a PGA Championship between 2025 and 2030, exact date to be determined.
