New $80 Million Frontwave Arena Opens in San Diego
The 7,500-seat arena will host sports, music, comedy, family shows and community events

Frontwave Arena will serve as home for the 16-time champion San Diego Sockers of the Major Arena Soccer League and the newly announced NBA G League San Diego Clippers. It will also host sporting events such as the AVP Beach Volleyball League, International FANCLB Cup — USA vs. Mexico, and the LA Clippers vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA preseason game on October 8.
“After a year and a half of construction and two years of architectural development, we are thrilled to see this massive project finally come to fruition,” said Josh Elias, co-founder and chief executive officer of Frontwave Arena. “We’ve overcome many challenges and I couldn’t be more proud to see our vision for an independently owned venue, for San Diegans by San Diegans, realized.”
The 7,500-seat arena will host events in sports and entertainment. The venue cost over $80 million to complete and was privately funded by three groups with San Diego roots. The 170,000 square foot venue features acoustic absorption insulation throughout the arena bowl, a 360-degree ribbon board and video production infrastructure.
