Mountain West Conference Baseball Championship Headed to Mesa
Chicago Cubs' Sloan Park will host the May 21–24 event
Posted On: February 14, 2025 By :The Mountain West Conference, in partnership with the Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission, will host the 2025 Credit Union 1 Baseball Championship at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, May 21–24.
The agreement marks the first time the Mountain West baseball tournament will be held on a neutral field and in the state of Arizona. Sloan Park is the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs and serves as the home field of the Arizona League Cubs of the Arizona Complex League.
“Hosting the baseball championship in a first-class venue like Sloan Park is a tremendous opportunity for the Mountain West, our baseball student-athletes and our fanbase,” said Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. “We thank Visit Mesa, Justin Piper of the Chicago Cubs and Nikki Balich-Cammarata with the Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission for their continued support and dedication to making this a premier event for our student-athletes.”
The six-team double elimination format begins on May 21, with the No. 3 seed facing the No. 6 seed. The second game will feature the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds. The action on May 22–23 will feature the top two seeded teams square off with the winners from the previous day, followed by elimination games to determine the participants in the title game. The champion, crowned on May 24, will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Fresno State won last year’s conference tournament at Tony Gwynn Stadium in San Diego. The event has been in California the past three years.
