Kurt Krause has been named president and CEO of Visit Norfolk, effective January 7, 2019. He most recently served as managing director for several hotel openings in Virginia, including Hilton Norfolk The Main, Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront, The Cavalier Virginia Beach and the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
“We are excited to have Kurt join our team,” said Tom Van Benschoten, chairman of the Visit Norfolk board of directors. “With more than three decades of experience working in hospitality, private enterprise, higher education and federal government, the considerable and varied nature of his background makes him the perfect choice to market Norfolk as a great destination to live, work, visit and do business.”
A native of Arlington, Virginia, Krause spent most of his career working in Virginia across multiple industries. He previously served as vice president of business affairs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, his alma mater, as well as senior advisor and executive director of consumer advocacy for the Transportation Security Administration.
Krause succeeds Sam Rogers, who served as the convention and visitors bureau’s interim president and CEO since January 2018.
