The Diamond Head Classic, sponsored by Hawaiian Airlines and traditionally held during the December holiday period, will be rescheduled starting in 2025 to late November around the Thanksgiving holiday with a women’s tournament added to the schedule.
The eight-team, three-day tournament will move with the exact dates yet to be determined after this year’s event, which culminated on Christmas Day with Nebraska beating Oregon State. This year’s field also included Charlotte, College of Charleston, Loyola Chicago, Murray State, Oakland and tournament host Hawai’i.
A women’s multi-team event featuring the University of Hawai’i will debut under the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic banner next season with the tournament format and exact dates to be announced in the future. The tournament has been held since 2009 and is hosted by the Big West Conference at the University of Hawai’i.
Previous tournament champions include USC (2009, 2017), Butler (2010), Kansas State (2011), Arizona (2012), Iowa State (2013), George Washington (2014), Oklahoma (2015), San Diego State (2016), TCU (2018), Houston (2019), Vanderbilt (2021), Hawai’i (2022) and Nevada (2023).
