Gran Fondo National Series Adds Event in Payson, Utah

The Gran Fondo National Series has announced the launch of a new event — the Gran Fondo Utah in Payson.

Gran Fondo Utah on June 7, 2025, will feature multiple route options to accommodate riders of varying abilities. The event will coincide with the Founder’s Day festival in town.

“We are excited to be selected as a host destination for the Gran Fondo National Series,” said Abby Owens, sports sales manager at Explore Utah Valley. “Our community’s enthusiasm for outdoor recreation and volunteerism will create a memorable experience for everyone involved, while offering scenery and a challenging ride for participants.”

The Gran course will include the Nebo Loop climb, an ascent featured in past editions of the Tour of Utah in 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2018. The race will included rest stops, timed segments and the opportunity to compete for prizes.

“Gran Fondo Utah will be a great addition to the Gran Fondo National Series line up of events and will offer cyclists in the Rocky Mountain region more opportunity to earn National Series Points and to qualify for the 2025 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships, which is in turn a UCI Gran Fondo World Championships qualifying event,” said Reuben Kline, Gran Fondo National Series founder.

The Gran Fondo National Series is partnering with Cycling Quests to expand the reach of the series to more western states. Gran Fondo Utah joins the Cache Gran Fondo in Cache, Utah; Bogus Basin Hill Climb in Boise, Idaho and the 719 Ride in Colorado Springs.
