Construction has started on the Sheraton/Mesa in Arizona. The hotel, which will be built next to the Cubs Park, will be the first commercial development on the site.
The four-story, 180-room hotel is scheduled to include two restaurants, a bar, a pool, a spa and a 26,000-square-foot conference center on the north side of the paseo. The project developer, BCY LLC, has also agreed to construct a minimum of 20,000 square feet of adjacent retail space and will be recruiting restaurants and other retailers.
“We are very excited to bring this hotel to the Riverview area. Not only is it the first commercial development at Wrigleyville West, it is our company’s first hotel in Mesa,” said BCY President Bob Yost.
If BCY meets its construction deadlines and other requirements along the north side of the paseo, it will have the opportunity to build a second 150-room hotel and 20,000 square feet of retail on the south side of the paseo.
“Visitor developments like those taking shape at Mesa Riverview help cement our city’s reputation as a leading, in-demand travel destination,” Visit Mesa President and CEO Marc Garcia said.
The Sheraton/Mesa is expected to open in January 2015.
