Cogne, Italy, will host the Winter Triathlon World Championships in February 2025, one year after the Italian resort city of Pragelato hosted the event.
“It is fantastic to be back in a venue that proved eleven years ago to be a superb host for Winter Triathlon and is ready now to host the event with more participants and more races, proving how our winter sport is growing,” said World Triathlon elected President Antonio Arimany.
The competition starts February 21 with the Winter Duathlon World Championships. Elite, U23, and Junior athletes will compete in two laps each of running and cross-country skiing. February 22 will have the Age-Group and Para Winter Duathlon Championships, followed by the Elite, U23, and Junior Winter Triathlon World Championships. The Elite race will feature an 8km snow run, 12km snow mountain biking and 12km cross-country skiing with five transitions and two laps of each section. Age-Group and Para athletes will compete over a half-distance course with two transitions.
The event will conclude February 23 with the Age-Group Standard distance World Triathlon Winter Championships, the Para Winter Triathlon World Championships and 2×2 Winter Triathlon Mixed Relay for Elites and U23/Juniors.
“We firmly believe that Winter Triathlon is crucial to make our sport even more popular and we continue to invest in its growth,” said Riccardo Giubilei, president of the Italian Triathlon Federation.
