Lincoln, Nebraska, will host the 2025 First Serve event that brings together eight college volleyball teams to start the season.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association made the announcement during the Women’s Final Four in December. The event will be at Pinnacle Bank Arena from August 22–24, 2025.
“The 2025 AVCA First Serve promises to be an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike,” said Jaime Gordon, chief executive officer of the AVCA. “We are excited to bring this event to Lincoln, a city with a rich volleyball tradition and a passionate fan base. The collaboration with Pinnacle Bank Arena and Visit Lincoln on the event will be a great way to start the 2025 Division I women’s volleyball season.”
The 2024 AVCA First Serve was held in Louisville, Kentucky, which also hosted the Women’s Final Four won by Penn State over host Louisville. The AVCA First Serve in 2024 featured Kentucky, Nebraska, Louisville and Wisconsin. All four teams reached the regional finals of this year’s NCAA Championship; the Huskers reached the Final Four before losing in the semifinals to Penn State.
“Pinnacle Bank Arena, along with the entire city of Lincoln, couldn’t be more excited to play host to this truly special occasion,” said Tim Savona, general manager at Pinnacle Bank Arena. “Our team has been seeking an opportunity to host NCAA volleyball for the first time, and we are grateful to partner with our friends at Visit Lincoln and the AVCA to make this one-of-a-kind event a reality.”
