The FIFA World Cup 2026 Atlanta Host Committee commemorated 500 days until the FIFA World Cup 26 comes to Atlanta on Friday, announcing two milestones that it will have later this year.
The first match set to take place at Atlanta Stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) will be June 15, 2026. Atlanta will host eight matches, including a semifinal, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup; it is also scheduled to host six matches during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
“Atlanta has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to deliver world-class events that showcase operational expertise, innovation, and the unique culture of our city,” said Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council and FIFA World Cup 2026 Atlanta Host Committee. “As we approach FIFA World Cup 26, we remain committed to collaborating with our stakeholders across the public and private sectors to ensure this global event drives meaningful impact for Atlanta, the state of Georgia, and the broader region.”
On June 11, Atlanta will join FIFA and the other host cities in celebrating the one-year out milestone from the FIFA World Cup 26. Atlanta will highlight its culture as well this year through its host city poster and other upcoming artistic initiatives.
In addition to hosting the tournament, 2026 will mark the opening of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, which will serve as the U.S. Men’s National Team’s home base during the competition. Over the next decade, the city is poised to host Super Bowl LXII and the 2031 NCAA Men’s Final Four.
