Discover Albany will host the 2025 CrossFit Games from August 1–3 at the MVP Arena, marking a first for the event on the East Coast.
Discover Albany estimates the impact will exceed $5.5 million in direct visitor spending and generate over $500,000 in local taxes. The event will bring in an estimated 5,669 room nights.
“I am very proud of the sales and services team here at Discover Albany for their successful work in helping to bring CrossFit to the MVP Arena,” said Jill Delaney, president and chief executive officer of Discover Albany. “Having a facility like the MVP Arena that has the capability and expertise to host events like CrossFit is crucial to our destination’s success. Events like this cannot happen there without the work of our team who coordinate all the details from lodging to additional event space within the destination.”
The MVP Arena can hold up to 15,000 spectators and recently underwent renovations.
“The efforts to secure the CrossFit Games has been a total community endeavor,” said Albany County Sports Commissioner Jay Cloutier. “CrossFit will utilize more than 30 hotels in every corner of Albany County and will impact small convenience stores, grocery stores, restaurants and local businesses as competitors from around the globe descend on the county to compete in the 2025 CrossFit championship.”
