Utsunomiya, Japan will again host the world’s best 3×3 players next season as it stages the 2025 FIBA World Tour Opener on April 26–27.
It will be the fourth consecutive time that Utsunomiya has hosted the World Tour Opener, in addition to hosting four World Tours between 2016-2019, including the Final in 2019.
The announcement comes after a 2024 in which the World Tour was in 17 locations around the world. The FIBA 3×3 World Tour had a record number of broadcast partners reaching more than 150 countries across all five continents. The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series included an event in Springfield, Massachusetts, home of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
“2024 has been a landmark year for 3×3, again setting new records and capturing hearts worldwide,” said Alex Sanchez, managing director of FIBA 3×3. “Thanks to our partners and organizers, we’re very pleased to see the sport continue to thrive and inspire.”
The World Tour is separate from the FIBA 3×3 World Championships, which in 2023 was held in Austria. Along with the World Tour, 22 Challenger events in 2024 included new teams knocking at the door of the World Tour.
