Munich – All eyes on Kane: FC Bayern Munich is serious about their striker search and has reportedly set their sights on England’s captain.[expander_maker id=”1″ ] According to various media reports, the German football record champions are willing to do everything to secure the signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by “The Athletic,” Bayern has allegedly submitted an initial offer of €70 million plus bonus payments. However, the Spurs are said to have rejected an offer that was less than €70 million plus additional payments, as reported shortly afterward by the TV channel Sky.
The captain of the English national team, however, is said to be open to a move. This also means that Victor Osimhen (24) from SSC Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani (24) are no longer hot candidates for Bayern.
Instead, Bayern seems to be fully focused on Kane to address their striking needs. On Monday, the transfer committee met again at Säbener Straße, where the club’s top officials, with the blessing of coach Thomas Tuchel, reportedly made the decision to pursue Kane. “We are working hard to have a team in the upcoming season that plays better football than in the past,” said supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß, who is also part of the task force. Indeed, there are indications that Kane could be a central building block of this team of the future.
The forward has consistently performed in the strongest league in the world for years. In the last season alone, he scored 30 goals in 38 league matches, with only Erling Haaland (36 goals) from reigning champions Manchester City performing better. However, Kane plays for Tottenham, a team that is significantly weaker in terms of squad quality.
With a total of 213 goals, he is now second only to Alan Shearer (260) on the all-time list of the best Premier League goal scorers. He is also reliable in the national team. And it is precisely this reliability that makes him interesting for Bayern, among other reasons. Kane is expected to guarantee more than 20 Bundesliga goals per season right from the start.
Furthermore, he would be relatively affordable compared to Osimhen and Kolo Muani, both of whom would likely cost over €100 million. Kane, on the other hand, will turn 30 at the end of July and is likely to be available for less money. Additionally, his contract in London has only one year left. Moreover, the Spurs missed out on the lucrative European competitions, which could fuel Kane’s desire to move.
If Bayern were to sell Lucas Hernández to Paris Saint-Germain for a reported amount exceeding €50 million, it would provide additional financial flexibility for the desired transfer. Several media outlets have reported that Munich and PSG are getting closer to reaching an agreement.
Now it seems to depend on Kane himself. According to Sky, the striker has reportedly conveyed to Bayern that a move to the German champions is his goal if he leaves the Spurs this summer for a foreign commitment. However, a definitive signal in favor of Bayern is still missing.
In Munich, Kane could win the titles that have eluded him so far in his career. On the other hand, Kane has always hesitated to leave his boyhood club. Since 2004, with a few brief interruptions, he has played for Tottenham. Manchester United is also said to be interested in him. But only Kane himself knows if he is ready to leave his beloved club and possibly even his home.[/expander_maker]
