Former Striker David Suazo Torn Between Supporting Inter and Benfica in Upcoming UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals

Former Honduran striker David Suazo, who played for Inter Milan and Benfica during his career, admits to being in a difficult position as he’s torn between supporting the two teams.[expander_maker id=”1″ ] He spent the 2008/09 season on loan at Benfica from Inter, which adds to his dilemma.

Suazo has high hopes for both teams and stressed that he wants to see two great games of football. While he acknowledged that there is much talent on the Benfica side, the team is known for its high-pressure style, therefore being able to play with less pressure than Inter. Benfica has less to lose compared to the Italian team.

The former striker gave his insight into the tactics and playing styles that the two club sides are likely to adopt. He highlighted Benfica’s ability to play with a high press, with a focus on attack, frequently putting pressure on opponents. He anticipated that this would make for an exciting match.

The two teams will face each other in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, with the first leg taking place at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon on April 12, 2023. The second leg is scheduled to be held at the San Siro stadium in Milan on April 19, 2023.

Suazo is one of the most successful footballers in Honduran history, having earned 57 caps for his country and scored 19 times. He played for Italian Serie A club Inter Milan from 2007 to 2011 before joining Genoa, where he played until his retirement in 2014. With Inter Milan, Suazo won the Serie A title twice, the Italian Super Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League in 2010.[/expander_maker]
