The 2020 USA Boxing National Championships, scheduled for December 5–12 in Shreveport, Louisiana, will now take place from March 25 through April 3, 2021, at the same destination.
With the new dates, the tournament will add three extra days of competition to allow for a soft start giving boxers, coaches, officials and staff an opportunity to adjust to COVID-19 mitigation procedures. USA Boxing will continue to enforce a no-spectator policy for the event and will reevaluate the policy on February 11.
“The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission worked hard to accommodate USA Boxing making adjustments to their schedule to meet our needs,” USA Boxing Event Coordinator Taryn Cass said. “We feel confident that the new dates will allow us to host a successful event and enable us to provide the experience that our members expect and deserve in a safe environment.”
Boxers registered for the original dates will remain registered for the tournament in its new dates. There will be no onsite registration for boxers or coaches and there are quotas set for each weight class; those that are filled will have any new registered boxers placed on a wait list.
The event will still take place at the Shreveport Convention Center, the second-largest convention center in Louisiana and managed by ASM Global.
